SOHANA TRANSPORTATION INC in Beaumont, AB, is seeking self-motivated candidates with strong interpersonal skills for the position of Truck Driver. This full-time, permanent position requires an immediate start and includes varied shifts such as day, evening, night, weekend, overtime, early morning, and morning.
We are looking for a licensed truck driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade to our customers. You will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to you, as well as working closely with our team of dispatchers in order to plan routes and track deliveries.
A Class A CDL or commercial driver license is required. Successful candidates must have a clean driving record and must pass a drug and alcohol test.
Job Description
The Truck Driver will be responsible for loading and unloading goods, transporting materials by operating and driving straight or articulated trucks, and ensuring cargo safety through tarping and secure arrangements. Key duties include relaying information to central dispatch, recording cargo details, and maintaining accurate logs of hours, distance traveled, and fuel consumption. The driver will conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections, perform daily vehicle checks for cleanliness and mechanical safety, and carry out preventative maintenance and roadside emergency repairs.
Additional responsibilities include adjusting brakes, driving special-purpose trucks, overseeing vehicle condition, planning travel routes and itineraries, and meeting delivery schedules. The driver must ensure timely delivery, handle fragile and heavy items with care, monitor and refuel the truck, and follow accident procedures when necessary. Compliance with truck driving regulations, company policies, and all traffic laws is essential, as is providing high-quality customer service. The role also involves keeping the truck and equipment clean, accurately recording product details, verifying delivery instructions, and notifying the dispatcher of any road incidents.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position must be fluent in English and hold a high school graduation certificate or equivalent experience. A Class 1 or A driver’s license is mandatory, although prior experience is not required. The candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and good judgment, along with being organized, punctual, dependable, and reliable. Valuing ethics, the candidate should possess excellent customer service skills, be physically fit, and capable of performing tasks efficiently.
The candidate must have a clean driving record, be capable of handling weight, and be willing to drive long distances and travel frequently. Concentration, adaptability, and foresight are crucial for dealing with unexpected situations such as traffic or weather conditions. The candidate should also be prepared to work in various locations and demonstrate strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task.
The role requires excellent oral communication, knowledge of safety regulations, and proficiency in using navigation tools like GPS, trip recorders, and CB radios. A thorough understanding of local and provincial regulations, the ability to drive responsibly, and strong documentation skills are also necessary. The candidate must be bondable, able to pass a criminal record check, and willing to submit to regular drug checks, ensuring a safe and secure work environment.
